When we tendered to become the operating partner for Liverpool’s Municipal Golf Courses, we set out a simple but ambitious vision. We promised to create facilities that would match, if not exceed, the standards of the region’s best private golf clubs, whilst safeguarding the principle of affordablegolf for all. Today we are setting out a vision to exceed those ambitions. From the beginning we were confident that we could transform a loss-making liability into a successful and thriving asset for the City of Liverpool.
We recognised the financial constraints that inhibited Liverpool City Council from making the necessary investment in this valued facility and we knew that through a new kind of partnership, that investment could be delivered. At the core of that partnership is a common commitment and passion for golf and a desire to see more people across Liverpool enjoying a challenging and rewarding game. By working together, we can guarantee the public municipal character of Allerton Manor at any of our brands, whilst investing in improved playing and social facilities, an expanded offer and an outstanding customer experience.
We have made substantial progress, both in terms of improvements to the golf course and its wider facilities, and the number of people playing and enjoying golf. But we want to go a lot further. We see massive potential to encourage wider participation, nurture young talent and create accessible family leisure destinations that will set new standards for public golf provision. Our work and investment in the Allerton Manor Estate and Sherdley Park, has only increased our confidence in the potential of this guiding premise.
